Oscar Awards Inspired Beauty

This winter is just relentless in making sure spring is a far away thought. I'm ready for no more snow and no more cold freezing days. But until that finally happens, I will amuse myself by trying out some of this Oscar inspired beauty looks. I am OBSESSED with how fresh Emma Stone looked that night. I will definitely be buying the Revlon color she used come this spring. Until then I plan on wearing a dark lip a la Chrissy Teigen and Naomi Watts.

Save or Splurge: Dry Shampoo

I hope everyone had a lovely three day weekend. Mine would have been perfect if it were not for this awful freezing weather that is plaguing NYC. I do have to say my Valentine's Day was probably one of my best in recent years. My good friend threw a brunch for all of our closest friends and then we saw Kingsman that night. If you are a fan of action/ spy movies, you will LOVE Kingsman. It was highly entertaining. Also, if you missed the SNL 40th special, you must watch it for some truly hilarious moments. I won't give anything away.

Now this is not my typical save or splurge, but I figured not everyone wants to spend tons of money on their beauty routine and little items add up fast. I have been trying all the dry shampoos from both drug and higher end stores to find the best ones that hide oil and keep hair feeling fresh (there is nothing worse than a dry shampoo that makes your hair feel like straw). The winners hands down are Batiste and Drybar.

Both made it impossible to tell when I had not washed my hair, which is a HUGE feat for me since my hair gets oily very quickly. I will say the Drybar dry shampoo is slightly stronger since I am able to get away with not washing my hair for two days in a row. With Batiste, my hair would look a bit oily be the end of the second day. I highly recommend both to anyone looking for a new dry shampoo.

Color Me Winter

Winter is here and making itself known...unfortunately (I am not a fan of cold weather). The one thing I do enjoy about winter is that it gives me the chance to wear mysterious dark and moody nail colors. There is something about having a dark nail that makes outfits seem instantly chicer. Here are the colors I currently paint my nails on rotation.

Pucker Up

My favorite summer outfit? Wearing all white with a bright lip. There is nothing chicer looking than wearing a in a monochromatic outfit with a pop of color on your lips. Summer is the best time to experiment with fun bright colors lipsticks. Here are just a few of my favorite lipstick looks for this summer:

Beauty Budget Buys

I am a big believer in that beauty should be affordable. I have found many mass beauty products to be just as good if not better than their prestige counterparts. It makes sense since most prestige  brands like Lancome or YSL are actually made in the same places like L'Oreal or Maybelline. Same owners after all.

Here are just some of my favorite beauty budget buys that are all under $20!

1. Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mud Mask - I am OBSESSED with this mud mask. I like it even better than Glam Glow. It has this amazing energizing orange smell, which I highly enjoy since there is nothing worse than a foul smelling beauty product. After I use it, I swear my skin is glowing--making me look refreshed. I highly recommend this product if you are in the market for a mud mask.

2. Rimmel London Scandaleyes Waterproof Gel Eyeliner - I normally stick to natural looking makeup, but when I go out, I love doing a dramatic eye. I find this gel eyeliner to be one of the easiest I've ever used to create a cat-eye. It goes on very smooth with the use of a brush and it lasts all night. Perfect for someone who is not great at using liquid eyeliner.

3. John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum  - Say hello to my hair's best friend. Without this product, I could never air dry my hair without it being a big ball of frizz. This one is a lifesaver.

4. Cetaphil - I have really sensitive skin. I am allergic to an insane amount of products (like neosporin--yeah my skin is that sensitive) and my skin is combination dry/oily. Cetaphil is a miracle worker. It keeps the dry parts of my skin moisturized and it doesn't make the oily parts oilier-- all while being sensitive to my skin. Also great to use on your body if you run out of lotion.

5. CoverGirl Clear Mascara - I used to use Anastasia Brow Gel to help keep my eyebrows looking tame until I discovered CoverGirl's version. It does the exact same thing with the exact same results for a fourth of a cost.

6. Revlon Eyelash Curler - I have never understood people's fascination with expensive eyelash curlers when I have always gotten the best results with my Revlon eyelash curler. People are always asking me if my eyelashes are fake since I can them look so long all thanks to this curler.

7. Orly Bonder - I can thank Eva Chen, Editor-in-Chief of Lucky, for introducing this one to me. Best nail polish base I have ever used. It goes on smooth and my nail polish lasts all week.

Pucker Up

It's February! It seems like January literally flew by---not that I am complaining since it was way too cold for most of the month. Did anyone watch the Super Bowl? I didn't really care for either team in it, so I rooted for the team whose colors I liked better. I think I should always pick winners based on this method since the Seahawks aka the team with the better colors killed the Broncos. As for the commercials, which is the real reason why I always watch, I loved the #BestBuds Budweiser puppy commercial, the GoldieBox one, and the America the Beautiful Coke one. What were your favorite commercials?

I have been on a major beauty kick lately and I have been LOVING dark bold lipstick. I think it just makes such a great statement. While I still love wearing a bright lipstick every now and then, it just doesn't feel right when the temperature has literally been in the negatives. I say that now and watch in two weeks, I'll only be wearing brights again.

Get the look:

Has anyone else been attracted to dark lipsticks lately?

Taste The Rainbow

Hello! I'm popping in to announce my newest obsession...Ten Over Ten nail polish. Things have finally started to slow down for a bit, so get ready to see more of me :) I will also begin to slowly makeover this blog now that I am certified in coding. I already redid the look of my twitter since that was easier to accomplish. Remember to follow me on twitter and instagram to see what I am up to on a daily basis.

Ten Over Ten is by far the best nail polish I have ever used. It not only goes on easy and streak-free, it also lasts a week. Nail polish never lasts a week on me because my nails are so weak, even with taking Biotin pills. This nail polish is amazing. I will probably end up buying every color they have since I am that obsessed. You can buy Ten Over Ten nail polish at Sephora.

Does anyone know of other good nail polishes that last a week? I always love trying out new brands.
