Trick or Treat

Well the big night is almost here! It seems like October has flown by this year. I have yet to even watch Halloweentown. I swear it has not been on the TV yet when it should be on every night during this time of year. Or at least let me watch it on Netflix! Why are all the good Halloween movies unavailable on Netflix (all the Halloweentowns and Hocus Pocus)?

Anyway, hopefully everyone has their costume(s) ready. If not here are two more ideas that literally could not be easier to throw together.

Everyone needs to thank the brilliant Karen Smith for making the simplest Halloween costume totally acceptable to wear. All you need to do is throw on a cute dress and some animal ears. When people ask you what you are, you simply point to your ears and go "I'm a [cat, mouse, bunny, whatever you want], duh."

The best thing about this next costume is that you will actually be warm while wearing it. All you need is a red striped shirt (if you don't own that trust me when I say your BFF will own at least one), jeans, and a beanie with a pom pom on it and you can pretend to be Where's Waldo. And you will be guaranteed to make new friends with this costume since everyone loves getting a photo with Waldo saying they found him.

It's Just A Bit of Hocus Pocus

I may or may not have already watched Hocus Pocus three times already this month. Best movie ever for getting into the spirit of the season. I think I'm going to need three or four costume changes needed for this Halloween so I will probably end up making half these costumes since I already own the parts for them.

Not going to lie, I have been waiting to do this costume for years since it's so easy to throw together and who doesn't want to be Regina George for a day (minus that whole getting hit by a bus thing). After all, what could be easier that cutting up an old white tank (seriously who doesn't have at least 3 of these stashed somewhere), putting on a black skirt and a brightly colored bra.

This next costume is for everyone with a bridesmaid dress (or however many you own) sitting in their closets gathering dust. Depending on the color of the dress, you can grab a tiara and go as the Disney princess who matches the color of your bridesmaid dress or you can still grab that tiara and make a sash out of paper to go as Miss America. And then you get to actually say you've worn your bridesmaid dress more than once.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year

October is finally here! It's my favorite month of the year, not just because it's my birthday month, but because of Halloween--my favorite holiday! It's never too early to start getting your Halloween costumes ready (I may or may not have started planning mine in August) and I firmly believe in looking at your closet before you buy a costume. And if you cannot find what you need in your closet raiding your best friend's closet works just as well.

I plan on doing a series of costume ideas with items you should already own (or your best friend should own). I'm starting off with some classic movie characters. Let me know if there are any particular looks you want me to recreate.

First up is Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Who doesn't own a little black dress? If for some odd reason, you don't own one, this black dress is perfect for both work and being Holly for Halloween! Then all you need to do is grab some over-sized sunglasses, pearls, long black gloves and put your hair in a bun and you are good to go.

Next up is everyone's favorite morbid girl--Wednesday Addams! Another super easy costume since all it requires is a long black sleeved dress (and you can wear a white button down underneath to get the collared look if you want) and to put your hair in two braided pigtails. Holding a bottle of poison is optional.

Mini Me

You didn't think I could go this long without a Halloween related post, right? I must say I am so glad ABC Family's 13 Nights of Halloween is finally on. It made my weekend much more enjoyable. As much fun as it is to dress up (I'm still trying to decide on what I should be), kids costumes will always be the best. I am only slightly obsessed with all of these fashion Halloween costumes by OhHappyDay. Several friends' of mine may or may not have texted me about how my future child will be Anna Wintour for Halloween one year.

I'm also very partial to the Karl Lagerfeld one.

Happy Halloween or Friday!!

Happy three day weekend (for me at least)! I wish I could say I am doing something fun instead of running around the city doing errands. I hope everyone else will be having a good weekend at least.

This Huffington Post article on the 20th anniversary of Hocus Pocus aka one of my favorite movies ever had me wishing it was Halloween time. Halloween is my favorite season, and yes it's a season in my book since I pretty much celebrate all October long and most of September (no joke). Here are just a few things that I cannot wait to make in September or next week knowing me.

Does anyone else love Hocus Pocus and Halloween?
